Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a story that has a family history of scholarship football and community service. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma recorded a record of 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his master's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. He settled down in Tampa after graduation, and played as a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. The year 1988 was the first time he started working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and for the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that Lee Roy was named one of the most distinguished young men across the United States by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighted 256 lbs. He was a captain on his college team in 1975. In 1993, he joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. The university named him to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Senior. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
